About the Project

What is the Facilities Master Plan?

The 15-year Facilities Master Plan will provide a roadmap for strategic capital investments, ensuring our schools remain safe, functional, and adaptable to the needs of future generations. This plan is built on:

  • Thorough Research – Incorporating demographic and enrollment data to anticipate future needs.

  • Community Engagement – Gathering input from residents, students, educators, and local leaders.

  • Expert Analysis – A team of architects and engineers assessing infrastructure, programming needs, and sustainability.

The plan will outline major renovation projects, provide a capital maintenance strategy, and help the District prioritize investments while balancing financial responsibility.

Who is Involved?

This project is a collaborative effort involving:

  • Branford Public Schools leadership, students, and faculty

  • Town of Branford officials and staff

  • Board of Education, Board of Selectmen, Board of Finance, and RTM representatives

  • Community members who care about the future of our schools

What Will the Plan Achieve?

The Facilities Master Plan will provide:

  • A phased approach to major renovations, with timelines and cost estimates

  • Prioritized projects, balancing educational impact with financial responsibility

  • Recommendations for critical repairs, replacements, and upgrades

  • Comprehensive plans for all school facilities, including outdoor spaces

  • ADA compliance and sustainability initiatives, considering climate resilience

  • A long-term capital maintenance strategy to protect our investments

This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to shape the future of Branford’s schools. Your voice matters—stay engaged and help us move BPSForward!

For years, the Branford community has faced tough decisions about how to invest in our school facilities. As our buildings age and student needs evolve, these decisions become even more pressing. Should we rebuild John B. Sliney Elementary School, a project estimated to cost over $130 million, or expand capacity and renovate our other existing schools? How can we ensure our facilities support changing student enrollment, demographics, and modern learning environments?

To address these critical questions, the Board of Education and the Town of Branford have launched a Facilities Master Plan—a comprehensive, long-term strategy to guide the future of our schools.
